Zorka Wollny - born in 1980 in Krakow. From 2001 to 2005 she studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. She graduated the studio of Grzegorz Sztwiertnia and Zbigniew Sałaja. She was an assistant in professor’s Artur Tajber studio, in 2007 under the UNIDEE (University of Ideas) she stayed in Michelangelo Pistoletto Foundation in Italy. After her return, she started to work as a lecturer of video art at ‘Forma’ Film School in Krakow, at the Academy of Photography and Pedagogical Academy in Krakow. Currently she is employed at the Academy of Fine Arts in Szczecin as an assistant in Multimedia studio at the department of Graphics. She has been an active artist since 2004. She collaborates with leading artistic institutions in Poland: Zachęta National Gallety of Art, Museum of Art in Łódź, Wyspa Institute of Art and Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle. In 2007 Wollny represented Poland at the exhibition of European artists in Brussels. She was granted scholarship from the Ministry of Culture twice, she was also awarded Eugeniusz Geppert’s Prize for painting, and in 2010 ‘Arteon’ art magazine recognized her as the Artist of the Year. Her interests include choreography, concrete music, video art. Zorka operates at the borderland of several domains of art; apart from participating in exhibitions the artists takes part in music events (such as Audio Art Festival in Krakow) and theatrical events (e.g. International Ballet Meetings in Łódź). In 2010, as a part of Malta Theatre Festival in Poznań, in collaboration with dancers and choreographers Zorka directed a dance performance Summer Solstice. In 2011 as a composer she was invited to take part in the Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music.
Zorka Wollny will run a workshop at the stunning Spasimo Church in Palermo. Along with the participants, she will create a “symphony” for that space. They will do it using their voices, objects, shoes, etc. The workshop is open to everyone and we will see its result in a final performance on 18th September at 9:00 p.m.
